TANT Newsletter #11

The National Trust is concentrating on its Nature Programme in the coming years. The roots of TANT were planted 25 years ago when a number of local NT tenant groups came together over issues of increasing rents, lack of repairs, and communication. Nurtured by the founding volunteers and encouraged by Lord Blakenham in his committee review of the whole of the National Trust, they grew into a formal association - TANT – in 2004.
21st Anniversary AGM
We will be celebrating our 21st anniversary at our AGM on Sunday, the 16th March 2025 at The Old Parsonage, Clumber Park, Notts. S80 3BE. 10.30am for a 11.00am start. All National Trust tenants are welcome with refreshments available - all free as is TANT membership.

Legislative Progress
Spring brings fresh hope and this year the realistic ambition of the benefits to tenants of the legislation currently progressing through Parliament. The Renters Rights Bill should be a gamechanger for tenants and The Leasehold and Freehold Reform Act 2024 will benefit Long Leaseholders.
Much has been achieved, but in a few areas, large rent increases and lack of repairs and their supervision are causes for concern. We continue to press the Trust to be exemplars of good landlordship, to value long-standing tenants, their importance to the community and nature around them.
If you need help or advice on tenancy matters, free of charge, in confidence, please go to our website and complete a Request for Assistance form, or contact us at info@tantuk.org or telephone our helpline 0845 463 3563.

Supporting Nature
With Spring flowering back into life, we support the Trust's Nature Programme with our reminder that it does include the land, its trees, plants, animals and PEOPLE. The tenants of the National Trust are a key element and need to be nurtured as well.
May the longer days bring a smile to your life.
Peter Bate, Chair
