My wife and I have been NT tenants in the West Country for over 30 years. We have learnt how to live in and love our very old cottage with its country garden. Around the beginning of this century, we helped create a local Tenants Association which linked up with similar groups from other areas leading to the formation of TANT over 20 years ago. Much has been learnt with regard to the Trust and its tenants who we like to refer to as Tenant Custodians and much has been achieved.
From an early career where small print was the order of the day, to many years in Sales and Marketing, this combination has helped me in negotiation, mediation and technical wordings. Before we started out on our TANT adventure, my voluntary involvement was as Chair of a football club playing at the lower end of the English Football League pyramid - the same rules as the Premier Division but with small crowds and helping with every element of the operation - grass roots football. Football is a team game and so is TANT - a team of volunteers which has grown from grass roots to a national body representing some 10,000 folk who live under a National Trust Roof and are always here to try and help you.
