Part of the success in removing MGR and agreeing the potential extension of leases to 990 years at peppercorn rents was due to long leaseholders writing to their local MPs and other influencers to alert them to the situation faced by National Trust leaseholders and the potential legal reforms set out in the Law Commission reports on leasehold reform.
